Darren Royston – The Dancing Master

Darren choreographed the West End hit run of Mary Chase's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Harvey, starring James Dreyfus and Maureen Lipman.

Darren Directed and Choreographed the workshop production of Day After Day, a play with music about Doris Day. This was performed at the RADA Studios on 29th November 2015.

Darren choreographed Home Fires, the ITV's British period televsion drama about the life of Women's Institute members during World War II, starring Samantha Bond.

Darren was the Dancing Master on the BBC4 show Dancing Cheek to Cheek: An Intimate History of Dance with Lucy Worsley and Len Goodman.

Darren choreographed Werner Herzog's new film Queen of the Desert starring Nicole Kidman, James Franco and Robert Pattinson. Released 2015.

Darren presented a research at the UNESCO International Dance Council in Athens in July 2015, alongside collaborator Penelope Boff, on the subject of dramatic dance in history.

Darren’s research paper “Filthie groping and uncleane handlings: an examination of touching moments in dance of court and courtship” was published in the book The Senses in Early Modern England 1558-1660. Avaliable on Amazon.

Darren choreographed and directed a revival of In Gay Company, a sophisticated, stylish musical review that has won rave reviews in a triumphant run Off-Broadway in New York City where it played 1974-75 and was revived again there in 1980. Its original production was nominated for “Best Score” by the New York Drama Critic Circle in 1975. The production was staged as part of the RADA festival.
